Madrid Two Day International Show

Written by Administrator

MY grateful thanks to the Kennel Club of Spain for the invitation to judge six breeds at their two-day International Championship Show, on October 4th & 5th, held in the lovely arena at Talavera de la Reina (Toledo).

The weather was a cool 82 degrees with hardly a cloud in the sky, so I was fortunate to be provided with an outside ring.

Top Dog in Herning, Denmark

Written by Administrator

I WAS delighted to be invited back to Denmark for the fifth time to judge the last show of the year in Herning, Denmark on November 1st and 2nd,  with an increased entry of over 4,000 dogs over the two days, the second day being the Danish Winners Show and the finals for the years top awards of 2014!

Border Collie Club of Denmark

Written by Administrator

I was honoured and delighted to be invited to judge the Border Collie Club of Denmark’s Champ Show at Vallensbaek where the hospitality couldn’t have been better. Grateful thanks to Secretary Felicia Olsen and her committee for all their help and kindness throughout my stay. Thanks also to my lovely ring steward Julie.

In the evening after judging I was taken by Felicia and Ina Jorgensen to the Spisestedet Mosen, a lovely lakeside restaurant where the views were quite breathtaking, a wonderful way to end the day and thaw out from all the wind and rain.

When I first saw the brochure of this new show I was thinking that there expectations were a bit high. The brochure and entry form for the show promised 12,000 visitors and 1,500 dogs for a CAC show.

The showground looked very promising - 18,000 square metres - amid a green area, thus the name “The Green Dog Show”.

King wins Brno crown

Written by Administrator

Best in Show at the European show in Brno last weekend was the Wire Fox Terrier, Ch King Arthur Van Foliny Home, expertly handled and presented by Warren Bradley from Wales. This dog is owned by Victor Malzoni from Brazil and on the same day, Victor also took Best in Show at Midland Counties in the UK with Ch Travella Striking Steel, Wire Fox Terrier. Quite a double!

The Czech Republic in the heart of Europe hosted this years European Dog Show in the city of Brno.

Great show in a cool hall

Written by Administrator

I do not know what is the average temperature in Rome in the second half of September, but this year it was very hot and wet. The humidity was about 100% and 33-34 degrees. But the hall was cool, the air conditioning worked a treat and inside was very comfortable, 24-25 degrees, good for exhibitors AND the dogs which was the most important.

The Rome show, organised by the Kennel Club Colosseo (because in Rome there is another local KC too), led by Arnaldo Palladini as President, at the Rome Fair (Nuova Fiera Roma), in one great hall (which is not a huge one, like in Milan), but big enough for this size of show, with all rings, stands, etc.

JUDGING IN INDIA!

Written by Administrator

Judging around the world has been one of my dreams since I was child and which I am pleased to say have come true right now. But in some way I never thought to judge in some countries where you couldn't imagine to find very active dog show people, like for example it was in India.

India was never in my thought for this reason and I was totally wrong!

The Lovaniumtrophy has the reputation of being a show that attracts a lot of hunting dogs and breeds. If you want to see some rare breeds of Groups 6 & 7, than you'll have a big chance to see some. This year there was an Epagneul de Pont-Audemer, a Griffon Bleu de Gascogne, and an Erdely Kopo, or Transylvanian Hound.

Liège blows out 60 candles!

Written by Administrator

As if it was to celebrate its 60th show, 90 more dogs than last year came to Liège, and this brought the total number of entries to 2,035, a new record. Every two years, on Saturday evening, Liège holds it Master Trophy (this was the sixth time), with 22 Champions in competition. Every year Liège always seems to be Belgium's hottest show. I can't remember a chilly Liège show. But that has, of course, also to do with the hospitality and the many "Golden" competitions during that weekend.

Hungarian double at Pécs

Written by Administrator

THE Pécs International was held on 21-22 of June. Pécs is in the south of Hungary, some 200 kilometres south of Budapest and close to the Croatian border, approximately 40 kilometres.

There were two shows held over the weekend with about 600 entries, quite a low entry, but there was an International Show in Komarom two weeks earlier and an International in Slovenia at the same time.
