FCI and WCF sign an agreement

Featured Written by FCI Statement

Breed-specific bans in Germany and Norway: FCI and WCF sign an agreement to jointly improve animal health and welfare on June 19, 2022, the federation cynological Internationale FCI and the world cat federation WCF concluded an inter-federal agreement to jointly represent the well-understood interests of dog and cat breeders in the international arena and in the parliament of the European Union.

Taking care of the welfare of animals bred in the FCI and WCF, the boards of directors of the largest international federations of pedigree dogs and cats in the world have agreed to collect all scientific opinions on the welfare and breeding of dog and cat breeds that have become subject to breeding and exhibition restrictions in some countries.

Bearing in mind the social and cultural importance of companion animals breeding in the history of our civilization, the FCI and WCF declare that they make every effort to promote the breeding of healthy and happy dogs and cats, and through appropriate education contribute to reducing the number of homeless companion animals in many countries around the world. Given the above, FCI & WCF announce their official cooperation.

The FCI president Dr Tamas Jakkel
President WCF e. V. Anneliese Hackmann
WCF 2nd Vice President Wojciech Albert Kurkowski
