FEHOVA Winterdogshow 2026

On the first weekend of February, MEOESZ (Hungarian Kennel Club) organized the first major exhibition weekend of the year: there were three days of international exhibitions and one day of special exhibitions. This weekend is one of the most important and one of the largest in Hungary.

Our Dogs SZV Szilvásvárad Hungary report The Szilvásvárad exhibition has always been an important event for dog breeding in Hungary, unfortunately the main organizer of the exhibition, András Korózs, the president of the MEOESZ, passed away a year and a half ago, so there was no question of how it would be, only what it would be like without András.

The first Hungarian shows after the pandemic were on Papa, two International shows, on 20th and 21st of June. Pápa is a small city in the middle of Western Hungary, with about 30,000 residents.

Fehova Shows, Budapest

The Super BIS of the Winterdogshow weekend was the black Puli, Pörgelóci Bodrog, bred by Dorottya Crkvenjakov, owned byVivien Benedek with the five BIS Judges, Sandor Szabo, Andras Korozs, Dr Tamas Jakkel, Dr Zsuzsanna Balogh and Ivor Vyguzov (Russia).
BETWEEN February, 13-16 four International Shows were held in Budapest, Hungary, call the FEHOVA Winter Dog Shows. The shows were held in the Hungexpo, the Budapest Fair together with the Arms, Fishing and Hunting Show.

Hungary 2019 Review

The Swiss White Sheperd “North” Doux of Ice Wine, was the top Hungarian dog at Crufts 2019 taking BOB as the new Import Registered dog. He later won a few BISs (including the INSUBRIA winner, Italy). In the previous year he was Group Winner at the European Dog Show, Warsaw and also group winner at the WDS, Moscow. He is bred and owned by Kata Magyar and handled by Vivien Poth.
Although there have been the usual shows and events, 2019 has not been a quiet year in Hungary.

Komárom - Hungary

The Szekesfehervar KC hald a Double International show weekend, not in the city but 20 kilometres way by Lake Velencei (a nice, 12-13 kilometre long lake, about 60 kilometres from Budapest).

Retriever show and working test

Best in Show was the Golden Retriever, Shamrock As Hot As Hell, bred by Dr Eszter Bárdossy, owned by Renáta Harta; Res BIS was the Portuguese Water Dog, Ambereyes Magic Desperado Cao de Aqua, bred by Beáta Steiner and owned by Dr Eszter Szántó, and Third was the Labrador Retriever, Follow Me To Aldamity Our Pleasure, bred by Jan Murar, owned by Daniela Barotosova (SK).
The Hungarian Retriever and Water Dog Association held their special club show and a working test in Soponya, on 13th and 14th of April. Soponya is a small village on the half way between Budapest and the Balaton Lake.

4 Winter Dog Days, Budapest

The Hungarian dog show season started with a long weekend, 4 days, 4 International dog shows, called Winterdogshow, hold on 7-10th of February. The show was in the HUNGEXPO, the Budapest Fair, together with the “Arm, Fishing and Hunting” show.

THE FIRST weekend of December is the most important as it is the closing event of the Hungarian dog show season.

Budapest Grand Prix

Best in Show on Saturday was the PBGV, Black Majesty Hall Of Fame, owned by Elizaveta Balova and Tatjana Zadarenko from Russia.BIS judge was Zafra Sirik (Israel).
The last weekend of April and the 1st of May a triple International Shows was held in Hungary, the Budapest Grand Prix.The show was held in Budapest, at the International Fair, Hungexpo, in the biggest hall, organised by the Hungarian Kennel Club.

Debrecen Double International

Not by being the most exciting or hard competition made this the hottest show of the Debrecen Double International, simply just the air temperature, it was one of the hottest weekends in Hungary, it was about 36-37 degrees in shade. For ten years now, two international dog shows have been held in a weekend.

Hungarian double at Pécs

THE Pécs International was held on 21-22 of June. Pécs is in the south of Hungary, some 200 kilometres south of Budapest and close to the Croatian border, approximately 40 kilometres. There were two shows held over the weekend with about 600 entries, quite a low entry, but there was an International Show in Komarom two weeks earlier and an International in Slovenia at the same time.

Komárom International Shows

THE Komárom Fortress has now become the traditional place for the closing events of the Hungarian dog show season. Two International Shows were held on the 19th & 20th of October and a few special shows also held on Saturday afternoon.
