Queensland Afghan Hound Association

Featured Written by

I thoroughly enjoyed judging at the Queensland Afghan Hound Association Speciality Show.

The Baby Puppy classes were delightful and the happy temperament was positive evidence  of the benefit of scheduling them. The Club has its own showgrounds with permanent buildings, electric gates and full time staff and must be the envy and ambition of all.  Showmanship, presentation, camaraderie and general professionalism were apparent from committee members and exhibitors alike. I felt that the winners in all classes would be equally successful in the UK.

Dog  CC and BIS was also Best Australian Bred, Keywest Smiling Assassin, a shaded gold, extremely houndy, fully balanced with ground covering flowing movement, lightly shown due to owner’s ill health, he became a new champion on the day. The Bitch CC came from the Intermediate class, Karakush Black Gold Texas Tea, a most feminine black brindle, full of quality from her lovely head and eye to her correctly carried ring tail. All the Baby Puppies came from the same all black litter bred by M & K Stone. I chose the dog, Stonecrest Licorice Temptation, purely on his being slightly more mature than his ‘peas in a pod’ brothers and sister. The dog and bitch progeny classes afforded evidence of type being continued over more than one litter by Ch Jhadi Esprit from the UK and Aus Ch Quidam Cirque Of Jhanzi from New Zealand.

My Scottish thanks to everyone for their warm welcome.
