The panel of judges were all friends, which added to the enjoyment, as we caught up with happenings in each other’s lives, and shared updates of all the things that are going on in the world of dogs I must give praise and credit to all the hard-working VKA committee members who put on a wonderful show.
The venue was nicely set up, and although it was quite a warm weekend, there were canopies providing shade for all the rings. Admiring the set-up, I could see that much effort had gone into preparations for the show, and it was encouraging to see so many VKA members helping to make the show the success it was, especially the younger volunteers who give great hope for the future of the Association.
HARD WORKING On the last day, there was a celebration of VKA’s 10th Anniversary at a banquet hall. We judges were invited and enjoyed the food, the entertainment, and the camaraderie which prevailed throughout the evening. I would like to especially thank a few hard-working members of VKA for taking care of us judges so well - Nguyễn Đức Tuyên (John), Nguyen Vi, Tony, Viet Pham and his lovely wife, and of course not forgetting all the rest of the people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. You guys were wonderful, and for that I thank you. Last but not least my good friend, one of the best photographers around, Chris Chou who worked his butt off taking lovely pics under warm weather for the past 3 days.
You rock, my friend. EXHIBITORS In addition to the local exhibitors there was quite a number of Thai exhibitors present as well. Overall winner was a good-looking Siberian Husky, who won several BIS over the weekend, follow by a Smooth Fox Terrier and an English Bulldog. These 3 dogs were in excellent condition, well-presented and well-handled.
Although the show was considered small when compared to those of many established kennel clubs in the world, I believe VKA will continue its steady growth and someday soon become a good working partner within the FCI Asia Section (A2O) and FCI worldwide. Wishing VKA all the best and a Happy New Year.
