The Rose Of Kotka Show

Best in Show at the Rose Of Kotka Show was the Siberian Husky, Int Ch Snowfrost Silver Stone, owned and bred by Tarja Veijonen, and pictured here with BIS Judge Mrs Tuire Okkola and Show Chairman, Harry Turtiainen.
This traditional and popular show has got its name from an old song. Kotka is a harbour city on the southeastern coast of Finland. The song tells about a sailor who meets a girl in a saloon and asks her to dance with him.

Kuopio August Show

Best in Show at Kuopio Two Day International Show was the American Cocker Spaniel, Int Ch Very Vigie Let It Be, jointly owned by Sanna Vartiainen and Pirjo Huovila and Vibeke Paulsen. BIS Judge was Hans Almgren from Sweden.
The traditional Kuopio August show was this time only a one two-day international show. Every second year it is a three-day cluster with three different shows, called the Sawo Shows. Savo is the name of the county.

Eukanuba Summer Show 2019

Best in Show at the Eukanuba Summer Show was the Miniature Pinscher, Ch Pinserella’s Habanero, owned by Tuija Sirkiä. BIS Judge was Kari Jarvinen.
July WAS extraordinarily warm in Finland. The hottest weekend was the last weekend in July, when we had the traditional two-day Eukanuba Summer Show.

Rovaniemi International

Best in Show at Rovaniemi was the Airedale Terrier, Int Ch Katherina’s Land Wish Me Luck, owned by Jukka Kemppainen. Handler was Pia von Koch. BIS Judge was Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen.
The Rovaniemi International Show is the northernmost all-breed show in Finland. Rovaniemi lies at the Arctic Circle and is known as the home town of Santa Claus.

Saimaa Easter Show, Imatra

Best in Show at Imatra was the Siberian Husky, Int Ch Snowfrost Silver Stone, owned by Tarja Veijonen. Best in Show Judge was Marija Kavcic (Slovenia).
Finnish dog show people are used to spending Easter at Imatra in south eastern Finland. Because it is not far from the Russian border, there are always also many Russian exhibitors.

Lahti Spring Show

Best in Show at the Lahti spring show was the Spanish Water Dog, Aquacrest Magic Mike, owned by Päivi Uurtola-Kahri & Noora Haapane. BIS Judge was Leni Finne.
The traditional Lahti spring show was the biggest show in Finland this year – so far. In many other traditional shows the entry figures have gone down, but the Lahti show was now bigger than last year, 4,400 entered dogs for this two-day international event.

Turku January International Show

Best in Show at Turku was the Spanish Water Dog, Ch Aquacrest Magic Mike, owned by Päivi Uurtola-Kahri & Noora Haapanen. BIS Judge was Sandra Mashford (Australia).
The traditional Turku January International Show was named Top Dog Show this year. Every second year this group of local clubs hold Top Dog Show, while every second year another combination of clubs have a Winter Dog Show.

Helsinki Double Show

On Sunday, the Best in Show Judge was Leni Finne (Finland) and she chose the Finnish Spitz, Ch Loukkaharjun Aito Lempi, owned by Päivi Silomäki and Toivo and Anni Lielahti and bred Paivi’s father.
The Helsinki Double Show was a spectacular end to the chain of Scandinavian main shows. It started in Denmark in November, at Herning, then there was Oslo, or actually Lilleström in Norway where there was also the Nordic Winner show, then Swedish Winner Show at Stockholm and the last and the biggest one of them all, the Helsinki weekend.
