Success on the rock

The judging panel consisted of judges from around the globe. On the first day BIS judge Espen Engh from Norway found his winners as follows: BIS 1 the UK bred Yorkshire Terrier dog that resides in Sweden owned by Bernice Unden and co-owned by handler Sergio Amien Picon Swed, DK, Ch, World, Fin Nordic Ch Debonaire’s Hold Me Now. BIS 2 Portuguese Water Dog male from Portugal Por Ch Firelight Da Pedra Da Anixa breeder/owner Isabel Viera Santos and BIS 3 the Welsh Corgi Pembroke bitch from Russia Multi Ch Andvol Pinkerton owned by Olga Shilova and bred by Andriyanov Volkova. 

On Day 2 the BIS judge Sigurd Wilberg also from Norway, gave BIS to the Boxer, a dog, Multi Junior Ch Firework de Porto Village from Portugal, his breeder/owner is Ana Sottomayor, BIS 2 the Pomeranian dog from Poland Multi Ch Caletto Winning Mood, the breeder is Marcin Wilczek and owner Ale Figliolia. BIS 3 was the Smooth Coat Chihuahua dog, Croatian Ch Dartan The Valiant Aladar, the owners are Hector Ceballos and co owner/breeder Jose Armas Lesta.

The BIS judges are voted on by the exhibitors from the panel of judges that also included Nick Smith (Gib), Mark Houston-Mcmillan (Can), Laura Cox (Ire), Tamas Jakkel (Hun), Guy Jeavons (Can), Age Gjetnes (Nor), Diane Stewart-Ritchie (Ire), Charlotte Hoier (Den), Anne Smith (Gib), Francis Krall (UK) Ann Van Den Heuval-Cowan (UK), Billy Henderson (Ire), Mark Phillips (UK), Jimmy Byrnes (Ire), Val Burns (UK), Luis Peixoto (Port), Elisabeth Gonzalez (Gib), Rui Alves Montiero (Port), Lieza Handley (UK), and Lawrence Llamas (Gib).

The shows are an important event in the Gibraltar social calendar and this year were attended by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Lieutenant General Sir James Dutton and his wife Lady Dutton and also the Minister for Sports, Culture, Heritage and Youth The Hon Mr S Linares. It was lovely to see the President Pepe Requena at the show on the 2nd day and the exhibitors showed their love for him with a rousing cheer. A full show report will follow in the Our Dogs Annual.
