World Dog Show 2026

The World Dog Show in Helsinki 2025 was a great success, and Bologna, Italy, in 2026, carried on the tradition with great Italian style. A five-day spectacular event started on Wednesday, June 3rd, with club shows and the National show known as the ENCI Winner, which is like the Italian version of Crufts. Italian Sighthound Special 2025

BIS of the Sighthound Club, the Whippet, KARADHRAS WEDNESDAY bred and owned by Anna Skowronska-Kociecka (PL). The resBIS was the irish Wolfhound DIONISO DELLA BASSA PAVESE, bred and owned by SALAMON LUDOVICA (IT), the BIS3rd was the Saluki AZIZ YARISH, owned by HOSIAWA KLARA (PL)
On May 10 and 11th the 3 Italian Sighthound clubs held their Club show and Special Shows in Padenghe sul Garda, the 3 clubs were: the Afghan Club (AIALA), the Little Italian Greyhound Club (CPLI) and the (almost) all sighthound Club (CDL).

Italian Sighthound Club

Best in Show, judged by Magnus Hagsted, was the Greyhound, Sobers Xtravaganza, bred and owned by B. Ahrens Primavera from Italy; Reserve BIS was the Irish Wolfhound, Miranda Della Bassa Pavese, bred and owned by Antonia Turini from Italy; and third was the Saluki, Soniarykiel Del Borghino, bred by the Del Borghino Kennel and owned by Leonardo Galliano from Italy.
The Italian Sighthound Club held their Club show on the 4th and 5th of May, in Padenghe Sul Garda, a small village on the shores of Lake Garda.

Great show in a cool hall

I do not know what is the average temperature in Rome in the second half of September, but this year it was very hot and wet. The humidity was about 100% and 33-34 degrees. But the hall was cool, the air conditioning worked a treat and inside was very comfortable, 24-25 degrees, good for exhibitors AND the dogs which was the most important.  The Rome show, organised by the Kennel Club Colosseo (because in Rome…

Double Show in Torino

Ponggibonsi all breeds National Championship Show   Having judged in Tuscany before I was looking forward to this appointment. Jacqui Ward was also officiating, she was warned not to be a lightweight, and she did not let me down!  Allessio, as always, picked us up from the airport and, as always, we did not go to the hotel. Generally the first thing you need is hotel, unpack, shower and change. What is it about airports…
