Last year we didn’t have an autumn edition. The government ban on the Luxembourg shows was finally lifted and we saw a new start in Spring.

Everybody was shocked upon hearing of the ban imposed by the Luxembourg Government on the Luxembourg Kennel Club to further organise any dog shows.

Luxembourg Spring Show

With almost the very same number of entries as last year, the spring show of Luxembourg seems to remain high on the list of everyone who wants to start a champion career for their dog. Last years total number of entries was 4,560, and this year it was 4,551.

Luxembourg International

At the Luxembourg International Show. BIS was the Pomeranian, Thai Silk Unique Perspective, owned by Mrs E Gaynulina. Reserve BIS was the Miniature Poodle, Ch Canmoy’s Black Magic, owned by Claudia Papini and third was the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Lievore’s Edition I Dare You, owned by Piergiorgio Lievore. Also pictured Karl Reisinger (Austria) and Jean Francois Vanaken.

Winning Best in Show at the 26th Special Terrier Show in Luxembourg last weekend was Victor Malzoni Jnr, Rony De Munter and Dieny Uiterwijk's Wire Fox Terrier, King Arthur Van Foliny Home, expertly handled by Warren Bradley.

There was a slight drop in the total number of entries, but only slightly from 5,487 last year to 5,330 this time round. But still this is a fantastic number for a country so small as Luxemburg. It is relatively easy to become Champion of Luxemburg, but is that really so? For certain less popular breeds maybe, where only a handful of dogs are entered. But winning in a breed like Chihuahua, Golden Retriever, Rhodesian…

I will never understand why the autumn show still remains less popular than the spring show, but I think that a lot of Kennel Clubs envy the Luxembourg Kennel Club for their two successful shows every year. This show had only 36 dogs less than last year but  compared to the spring show, there is still a big gap of 45% and that is a big difference.
