Greyhound halfway leader for Top Dog of Norway

Featured Written by

Summer is in full swing and we are just halfway in the show season. The present leaders have some serious maths to do now as the race for Top Dogs is about to get double hot.

So far there have been 6 International All-Breed Shows in Norway, all of which entries have been extremely international, despite the country’s geographically rather isolated position, and so were the judging panels: five out of the six Best in Show judges were overseas.

The current Top Dog is the Greyhound bitch, Ch. Jet’s Just Take Me Home Tonight, owned and handled by Espen Engh and Age Gjetnes, and bred by Kari and Espen Engh. She has just turned 2 years old, therefore has done most of her winning before she actually became a Champion. She has won two Bests in Show at FCI International shows this year, one under the breed’s doyen Dr Goran Bodegard of Sweden, which makes her a clear leader. The Jet Greyhounds already won Top dog all breeds in 2001 with Int.Ch. Jet’s Once Upon A Dream and in 2003 with Int.Ch. Jet’s Something In The Way U Smile.

Runner-Up to the Greyhound is the Australian import Welsh Corgi Pembroke, Ch. Antudor Accidentally In Love, owned by Rita Tilley Wilberg and Debbie Neilson. Born in 2010, he was bred by Debbie Neilson, under whose wings he did quite some winning in his homeland. He is also a Champion in 3 countries. So far, he has won two Reserve Bests in Show at Norway’s International Shows.

Pitch Black Face Pugs Highness High Born, the French-bred Pug takes third place on the list, in spite of his mere age of one year, with two third Bests in Show in the first half of the season. The little Monsieur was bred and is owned by Thomas Stephanie and is co-owned and handled by the highly successful Bjorn Erling Loken.
