Best in Show at the World Dog Show 2023, held in Geneva Switzerland, was the Portuguese Water Dog, Aquafortis Robel The One, owned by Runi Kristiansen. Handled by Marta Flores (Portugal). Judging the finale was Mr Laurent Pichard (Switzerland).

Best in Show second place was awarded to the English Setter, Quantam Clos Erasmus Spirit World, owned by Tracy Wiles (USA), and handled by breeder, Nina Lazareva (Russia).

Best in Show third place went to the Affenpinscher, Kick Em Kenny V Tant Kazari, owned by Yvonne Savard (Canada), handled by Javier Gonzalez-Mendikote (Spain).

Best Junior Handler in Show, judged by Jason Hoke (USA), went to the UK’s representative, Lauren Goddard with her Border Terrier, Ch Awbrooksky Never Back Down JW. The weekend for them started when they won Reserve Best in Show at the National show held in Geneva, the Grand Prix under Tamas Jakkel (Hungary). A great weekend for Lauren and her parents, Robert and Charlotte Goddard as their Border Terrier also won, Best of Breed at the World Dog Show under Dinky Santos (Phillippines) and finished second place in Group 3 under Kimmo Mustonen (Finland).

Congratulations to the Goddard family on a hugely successful show in Geneva. The Group 7 group 2 winner, the Portuguese Pointer was also there from the UK, Mark Taylor is the owner and handler. The Pointer BOB from the Junior class and group shortlist was from here also. Lynda Adam’s is one of the owners and was handling.

Of the U.K. show dogs that travelled to PalExpo in Geneve, Switzerland for the World Dog Show and Grand Prix de Geneve on 23rd - 27th August, only a few Vulnerable Native Breeds made the long journey. One was Anamaria Agache from Surrey and her team from Evforce Harriers for the Group 6 Scent Hound competitions with 2 of her dogs. Melanie Raymond, John Shaw and Kerry Kirtley’s number 1 dog in the UK, Ch Brighttouch Drift The Line Through Dialynne (Imp) took BOB at the show after Mel travelled with husband and friends over land and sea to get there!

A great result for Team Viking. Another Brit who didn’t waste a journey to Geneva was Mike Wildman with Cocker Frankie, who took BOB and group 3 following a super run of wins in the UK. Jason Lynn had a great show over in Switzerland, and Boomer, aka Hallifax Hightide Hedonist at Afterglow, got Best of Breed and was shortlisted in the group.
